Default Bleed sequence -wrong in manual?

My owner's manual for my 1991 says to bleed- right front, right rear, left rear, left front. I thought you were supposed to start from the farthest bleeder away from the MC. Which would be passenger's side rear. So what is the correct way? Why do they say "right rear"- which is confusing (right as you stand in front of the car or right as you sit in the driver's seat?) Do we have a concensus on what is the proper order?

With ABS the bleeding sequence varies by year since the ABS unit vary. If you have a factory service manual (FSM) for your year use that to determine your sequence.
