I've got a hundred bucks says I can remove the plug and install the switch between 1 & 3 quicker and cheaper than you can build one of your relocation kits.
You're probably right !!
I admit my illness of liking to spend my time under the hood of a car. I wish I could break the habit - is there a support group out there for me where we can all sit in a circle and "let it all out" ? It seems that the more time I spend under the hood, the happier I am. Oh well, at least its a C4 vette !!!!!
Getting both fans to turn on sooner should be of interest to any of the forum members considering a lower stat w/o reprogramming.
I appreciate the idea!

After I ground out the hole in the gooseneck to remove the casting flashing, I put in a 180 stat and drove it. Equilibrium operating temp was 192-193.
Then I put in a 160 stat. Previously with the 160 stat equilibrium operating temp was 188. Yesterday, with the 160 stat, equilibrium operating temp is 180.
Conclusion: In my rig, op temp w/160 stat is 180 and op temp w/180 stat is 192.
Next time you get a chance check the ECM for codes, even though the SES light is not illuminated you will find a code 28 in memory for Quad driver module circuit #3.

I was happy to hear this news I have a 1994 corvette and my fans are giving me hell i can find anything to take the cooling plug out as Ecklers suggest to be able to put in the sensor how much would you charge me to make a pipe and to give me more details in wiring it to the fan relays.
I have the Ecklers sensor already
If you cant please bare with me If you can tell me in detail how to make one I get lost with the welding part. thanks
Thanks for posting your idea a job well done those of us that are battling with overheating problems and are not mechanics really need people like you who share your problem fixes

One thing I do every year, I replace 1 gallon of antifreeze with 50/50 and I also put in 2 bottles of waterwetter in and get great cooling results.... http://www.redlineoil.com/products_coolant.asp
Maybe that's why the 95 and 96 fans run in tandem always. Hi and Lo speeds.

What others have shared, is irrelevant. GM shares tons of technology, with every car it sells, and people still **** and moan. My conclusion is that it is the nature of some to be negative - they can't help themselves.
people **** and moan cause GM technology is quite **** poor at times, and very worthy of moaning about. But having said that, it is more so the quality and the fit & finish that is very poor with GM.

No offence to the thread starter by the way, i can see youre trying new things and i can appreciate that sort of thing, but youre potentially introducing other variables that could lead to bad results. Not saying that will occur, cause without seeing what youve done, i cant comment.
At the same time, i think its good youre looking for ways to improve your vehicle. I improved my Corvette alot, and in the end i saw to it that the best way to improve on my car was replace the whole car with one that has a 3 pointed star on the front....

Ja, I did some cleaning of files. If anyone ever hits a dead link of mine and wants to see the content, just email me
Mercedes Benz mate The one i own now is yet to see a spanner for anything other than regular service or new tires, and its got over a quarter mil on the clock. After all that use, i can still look at this car and say "sh*t they did a great job building this", cause everything still works like it did when the car was brand new.
Im not saying Corvettes are not a good car, cause they are good, especially C4s, but im glad to see the back of mine, and i dont miss either of them one bit. Everytime i looked at them i could see more and more room for improvement, and it just started getting too monotonous.
Mitsubishi is 3 diamonds and aint worth a damn either.
You all slammed him way to much his idea works get over it. I guarantee if you ever found yourself with fans not working for one reason or another you would wish you had a simple quik fix like his.
As for the reprogramming the chip just how full proof is that? Hell my car is stock and it's ecm won't kick the fans on no matter what. I did the threaded in sensor in the head on my 90, same concept as his just less hassles but point is I'de rather have the switch doing the job then the ecm. If you have cooling issues this is the fix running both fans simple as that and thats the way GM should have done it!
with both my fans running I can feel air coming out from under the doors and if you put your hand near the air dam you can feel the fans drawing air. Like his my temp gauge falls from 230-around 195 in about 25-30 seconds. I've never run my car on the road yet this is what it does just idling for a hour, I do plan on putting a Z51 air dam on the car as well and will let you know what the car does in calif. heat with a/c on.
Mate i think its probably not the car or the way it was built that is the issue here, and this is not meant to offend you in any way, but id say the issue is you not being able to correctly follow a diagnostic procedure. Instead, you are not able to find the issue, so you barstardise the current setup, then blame the manufacture and say its them thats wrong. Then you sell the car, someone has issues with the fans not working, it takes them ages to fix the issue you created to make their car work the way it SHOULD.
Reprogrammed chip in the ECM is very fool proof if done right.
If you fix the car properly and you know what youre doing, you wont ever have to worry about your fans not comming on.
I used a square easy-out to remove my plug between 1 & 3. I put ecklers switch in & the car runs very cool now. Then I put a trans cooler on it & it runs almost 2 cool.
