Im new to this forum so Im not sure if this is the correct area to post this.
Ok so my blinker assembly broke yesterday on the way into work. The part is only like 20 bucks. The issue I am having is that I dont know how to disable the airbag... Its a 92. I have done alot of things in the past to my other vehicles but have never had this prob b4. I am also wanting to know what kinda things I should look for or watch out for. Also how long should this take me? Its kinda funny cause only the left works ( clicks ) and the right dosent lol. Some times I forget when I switch lanes and I become one of the anoying drivers that leave there blinker on but not by choice. So, any help would be great...
You're in the right section, someone will chime in soon to let you know the procedure. I've never worked on an airbag wheel either so we both can learn something. If I recall you have to have the battery disconnected at least 15 minutes before doing any dis-assembly but don't make a move until you know for sure.
Welcome to the forum, you'll find all kinds of info here for your car.
I did a search for you, the search feature here has some good info so keep it in mind. According to what I read you must disconnect the negative terminal on the battery for at least 30 minutes to let any residual power drain off the airbag. Remove the two screws on the backside of the wheel and remove but do not point it toward your face while removing it. Unplug the connector on the back and the airbag is free. I would add that you should touch something metal on the car before removing the wheel to dissipate any static electricity you may be carrying. I also would not lay the wheel down on the connector for the same reason. If this is incorrect will someone please correct my info?
IRAraid raises a good point. A little more information might prove to be very helpful. Did you actually break off the stalk and you need to replace it or is it that one or more of your turn signals are not blinking?
Welcome to the forum. Working on your vette yourself can save you a TON of $$

My dam chiltens book just says to discnect the fuse??? Ya not gunna trust that cause half that book has been wrong anyway. Im trying to find a hanes manual here in Savanna but noone likes to carry them.. I just dont want to ruin my car
I don't ever use what I'm about to say to anyone since it has been said here a gazillion times. But, you're new here so here goes,,, Don't waste your money on the Haynes book either, get the FSM (factory service manual) if you are going to be doing your own work it will be the best tool you have. You can order them new from Helms or they can be found on ebay. They are pricy but as I said, an invaluable tool.
