Default 1996 CE LT1 Speed Calibration

I have a 1996 Collector Edition LT1.

After having my CCM replaced and the ECM reflashed I'm now told that my car has non-standard Rack-Pinion Gears. I'm told that I have 3.73 rear end. This has made the speedo Off by some factor.

Other than a Hypertech Power Programmer III what other options are there for getting the SpeedOmeter calibrated ?

I've got a call in to a Dealer to see if they can do this for me but I'm not very optimistic about this. They claim unless the GM Hotline says its ok they can't do it. SO thats who their calling now.

Then I'm told that there Hyper Tech is limited for use on only 1 single car .

Looking forward to your suggestions.

Yes Hypertech can only do one car at a time. It stores your old program and uploades the changes you make. You could buy LT1 edit for about $500.00 but for what you need it's not worth it. Is your car an auto? I have a Hypertech I want to sell because I use LT1 edit for racing. It works on 96 Vette auto only.

I thought once a Hypertech had been used on one car it could no longer be used on another car ?

So unless yours is unused how could you sell it to someone ?

Maybe my facts are confused ?

You can use it on other cars but you will lose you stock tunning because it will save the tune from the next car. It can not hold more then one tune. It will hole your stock tune and upload the new tune. When you first plug it in it will read the Vin # then when you make changes it will download your stock tune. That will earse my old stock tune and keep yours. Then you are the only one that can use it or you will lose your stock tune. Hope that makes since.

Seems like whoever screwed up your car by reflashing the PCM should fix the problem.

Getting a mail-order tune to fix your speedometer will cost about $100.

Progamming the rack and pinion gear ratio is another matter entirely...

Use the power programmer. Pick the gears thet are closet to yours. Then check it against a GPS. Then program you tire size up or down. I put 3.54 gears in mine used the 3.45 in the programmer. Changed the tire size speedo dead on.
