I know this may not be able to be answered, but I'll try anyway.
After I got my headers installed, my service ASR light came on. I checked the connections to the ASR box by the battery, and they were fine. Are there any other connections I should check, and which relay/fuse should I check? If there is anything else you can think of it would be appreciated, thanks.
I didn't dl anything from the PCM, and I'm pretty sure the mechanics didn't. Even if they did they reset the computer by unplugging the battery. It only came on after they disconnected the battery, although I don't know if they accidentaly tripped something to do with my ASR.
Jump the 4 to 12 pin on your ALDL( 4th from the left on top and the 12th is right under it) connector and see what codes you have watch the speedo with the key on 1.1 is CCM, 4.1 is PCM(CCM), 9.1 ABS/ASR..And let us know what you find.
I've heard some people talk about tripping A to G, then other talk about 4 to 12, what is the difference in these? Should I just have the key on, or the engine started. Thanks
OK, I just used the paperclip to jump 4 to 12, and nothing happened. I also tried the two to the furthest right(top and bottom), and nothing happened. I did this with the key on, and with the engine running, and still nothing. What am I doing wrong?
The plug has 16 slots, but only 10 of the slots have metal things in them. I tried A&G, and 4&12. I still don't know what's going on, if anyone else can help it would be appreciated.
4 & 12 should be correct. 4 is ground and 12 is the test loop connector. Do NOT connect 9 & 4 with a wire.. that would be bad .. that's the signal to read/program the computer with. 16 is 12v+, don't connect 4 to it either. 5 is another ground. Of the two grounds, one is chassi ground, the other is PCM ground (I don't remember which is which).
I do not know if this might help, but just want to give you an idea. I got the same ASR light turned on after I install the Accel 300+ ignition. I called Accel, and it turned out that all I need to do is to by-pass the Tach filter. After by-passing the Tach filter, car was back to normal.
I'll have to check that out b/c I just had an MSD 6A box put on at the same time as my headers. Thanks a lot, I just hope that is it.
BTW, after your ignition install, did your tach jump around under WOT, mine does. I am going to have that looked at, but maybe it's just b/c of the tach filter.
If that's the case, I think the tach filter is the problem. Let me know if you need more help on by-passing the Tach filter, and it's location. Good luck.
Here it is: just follow the harness from you coil. The Tach filter should be a retangle block with the size of half of a thump (may be smaller). You also will see 2 (or may be 3-4) white wires go to and from it. Just cut these two wires, then connect them together to bypass the Tach filter. That's it, very simple. Good luck.
