1995 c4 tranny upgrades?
The 4l60e has some known weak points such as the sunshell and the 3-4 clutch pack which should be addressed. I'll leave you a link to a good rebuild kit that contains everything needed for a quality job. This is the one I used to rebuild mine. Look it over and post back if you have questions.

There is also a how-to video available which will answer many of your questions. It is intended to be an aid for doing the work however I would highly recommend getting it even if you are going to have the work done. It will alert you to many issues that should be addressed while doing this job.

The transmission will have a drastically different shift quality with the transgo reprogramming kit. Firm would be an understatement. It took me a little while to get used to it but now that I have I quite like it.
Some typical things that they do is to bend the steels in the clutch packs to keep them from slipping for a little while. What they SHOULD do is replace all parts in the clutch pack.
Unfortunately it's the old "one rotten apple spoils the barrel" thing. You need to ask around and learn the reputation of your transmission shop. If you can find a good, honest transmission guy, then all you have to do is leave it to him. If you don't, you won't know for a month or two that you were ripped off.
The other alternative, and I think is a good one, is to buy a transmission from a reputable rebuilder and have the shop swap it out for you.
BTW, the way that I "upgrade" an automatic transmission is to put a manual transmission in it's place, but I'm a manual transmission fan unlike 90% of C4 drivers.
