Default Searching for OBD codes..Surprise!

Yesterday I checked for trouble code in my ECM via ALDL.
I used a small section of electrical wire to connect the A with the B pin in the ALDL (as see in the Haynes manual -1984.1996 corvettes-).
The check engine light flashed a code 12 three times and . Then again code 12.
...There are NO stored codes in the system...
The strange thing is that when I connected the A pin with the B pin in the ALDL connector, under the hood I noticed a noise like a fan, or a electric pump. When I disconnected the wire the noise disappear.....
(I'm sure I connected the A pin with the B pin located in the top right side of the ALDL connector.
Why this noise??, Maybe the fuel pump??
Thanks in advance.

This is normal...you put the computer in diagnostic mode. The fan comes on, the fuel pump engages, the sensors are "sensed" :D

Looks like your in the clear.
