396 Block
the calculations go like this:
Radius of bore squared X pi (3.14) x stroke x number of cylinders:
396 with 454 crank:
4.096 bore, 4.00 stroke:
2.048 x 2.048 x 3.14 x 4.0 x 8 = 421.443
early 396 block have been known to be able to be bores to the size of a 454 (4.250), but it is very risky. You have a very good chance of boring into the water jacket.
Hope this helps
