here it is guys;I have a 93 and my friend told me yesterday that when i changed over to the"pink"coolant it will erode the internals of the lt1??When I did this i also changed the freeze plugs to ensure i got all the green out(don't mix will turn into mud!!!)then i also put the GM sealer in.I used the GM certified havoline stuff .I went through old postings and am conflicted!someone please break it down for me??!!am i killing my engine??
I haven't heard of the mixture actually turning into mud.
However, it definitely is best to flush the system out completely before changing coolant types. A little bit of the green stuff effectively negates the advantages of using the pink stuff.
The "pink" stuff (Dex-Cool) will still work if there's a little bit of green stuff left, but the service interval is reduced to only 2 years, instead of much longer-- 100,000 miles or whatever that the pure pink stuff is supposed to give you.
I wasn't sure of mixing got the mud thing from a previous post! got most all I believe though(still pink!)My real concern is the "erosion "that my friend was talking about,is this for real??
Thanx, very informative,it seems the verdict is keep as close to 50/50 mixture as possible to keep the correct level of corrsive inhibitors also at the correct level! The only problem with a little mixing of the coolants seems to be shorter life span.again good info thank you
