Default Steering Racks

I have an '88 Z52 (17" Wheels) Package Car with a leaking rack, my question regards compatibility between different C4 racks...

MaM lists Twelve different types for 84 thru 96 models!

I'm in the UK, so shipping from the US is expensive and there isn't a lot of options for getting a rack over here (especially of exactly the right type, Mam has one specifically listed for '88 with 17" wheels)

If I sourced a different rack, (e.g. I can get one here in the UK from a '91 at a fraction of the cost) what issues would I have, are there big differences between years?

Thanks,

Paul

As far as I am aware they all interchange '84 - '96 and there are only two ratios;
the std and the fast Z51 one.

Thanks, that's what I'd figured looking elsewhere, not sure why MaM has so many different types listed?

Anyway, my car currently has the 'sport' or 'Z51' rack, so I'd like to stick with that as it is what I know.

Think I've found a potential solution if I can't source one over here, Rock have them priced at a slightly less eyewatering price including international shipping....

Out of curiosity MaM is Midamerica Motor Works?
Rock is Rock Auto?

I think 88 and up has longer inner tierods. 84-87 is a different generation.
Here a rebuilt rack only runs @ $150. If your inner tierods arent worn out you should be able to find a shop that can put seals in one without much trouble.

$152 in US + $75 Core Charge (would cost me more than that to return old unit) + $156 Shipping to UK (That is cheapest shipping, express would be $245) + $57 Tax on entry into UK...

$440...

A lot of stuff for Vettes costs 2-3 x US price over here!

Thanks for info on earlier racks.

Anyone know if racks from 90 thru 96 are all "normal" ratio or all "sport" ratio seems to only be one type per year?
