Default fuel pump servicing

My fuel pump seems to be bad - and autozone offers a fuel pump motor - not a full assembly - my question is : Is that what is normally replaced when it's not working - just the motor?

My car is an 88.

It shouldnt be to difficult. Remove and bolt the pick up tube on your new motor. Its been a while since I have did this, seems like I remeber small framework holding it all together.

Good Luck

Yes, thanks. Autozone has a cool project picture that makes it more clear.

Yes just replace the motor/pump. Unless the new one doesn't come with a sock, then get a new sock too. I have my stock pump sitting here if you'd want it for shipping costs.

Did you get those new shocks to work? Any lap time improvements?

Hi - thanks - I was on my way to an event yesterday with the shocks seeming to be stable enough to do a real rebound test. (Compression is looking pretty good). And that's when the fuel filter died. I bought one and the sock at autozone and my husband installed it yesterday so I'm all set thank you. Now I'll have to wait 2 weeks to find out if I can compete at the National tour in June, but that's my hope.
