Default Good website for cam explanations

Anybody have a good website for explaining what the camshaft spec #'s mean. For example what is better for high end/low end power.

Reason I ask is I have a friend who is running a dirt track car and he is wondering if he has the right cam and what is the optimal timing to set it at. I know the basics but not enough to help him out with this.

Racer Brown wrote this a number of years ago for guys road racing 280Z cars to use. It is the best technical explanation for what happens during different camshaft timming events and when during the engine's cycle's.... that has ever been written. Like I said it was written for Z car guys, but the information in it applies to all 4 cycle engines.

Once he has chewed that over for a few days, and has a grasp of what happens and when it happens, head over to Mr. Harvey Crane's web site and check out these.

If he wants more info, here is a list of recommended reading.
