1986 Alarm Question
You can replace the drivers side door switch with a new one to fix the problem.
My former 86 had the same problem.Since the drivers door was used most often it wore the switch out.I had to go to the other side to shut it off.
It was annoying so I got a new switch for the drivers door and it solved the issues.
Also,to the OP,if you dont want to ARM you alarm, dont use the power door locks to lock the doors.Get out of the car and manually lock it by pushing the lock in the door panel by hand.
To see what I mean, open the door and watch the security light on the dash flash.
Hit the power door locks to LOCK and watch the light freeze in place on the dash.Thats it arming itself.
Unlocking it with the power switch disarms it(security light flashes again) before you shut the door and walk away.So when having problems with the alarm, and horn, just lock the door manually and it wont arm, until you fix the problem.
Also turn both door key holes side to side to lock and unlock, and remove key straight out of the keyholes if still having problems. The key can sometimes come out a little bit sideways keeping the alarm still active.
If it is,
The problem is in the doors or hatch ( Security switches ).. But if the security light is not solid, I would think the problem is in the horn wiring.. Since the car is starting it makes me wonder if the alarm is set. I beleive if the alarm is set the car should have a no start situation..
