Header question
A friend of mine asked me to install some Stainless Works (part # C492-96) long tube headers on his ’92 LT1. After looking at the exhaust ports in the heads and the flanges on the headers I am having some doubts about being able to get a good seal (see picture below). First of all, the ports on the headers do not match very well with the exhaust ports. What concerns me most is, at the bottom of the exhaust port there is only about 0.16” of sealing thickness. Just wondering if anyone else has installed these headers and if there was any sealing problems? Also what gaskets did you use?

Are they the correct ones for the aplication or did your friend find a 'buy' on them. I can not see any reason you would have to oval the tubes on typical street headers.. BTW for best flow you want the port floor on the header to match the bottom of the header tube..
