ABS doesn't self test 1988
It doesn't self test.
I've read the Corvette fever article http://www.corvettefever.com/howto/19239/index.html
and also a good write up by mike 88Z51 http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-t...n-my-86-a.html
I'm hoping that because there is no self test, it will be one of the three relays, just checking here for others comments who may have had the same problem ?
One obvious check if you haven't done so already is to make/ be sure the single electrical ABS connector is still firmly plugged in on the brake master cylinder.
Good luck
or does the self test not happen once the ABS warning light is triggered?
In which case how do I cancel it?
I was checking that all the connectors at the ABS were connected properly and I noticed a tang sticking out from the module - arrowed in this pic - it looks like it should have a connection - or is this normal?

The brake system did work properly before correct?
The ABS worked fine until last year, when the ABS light stayed on. I tested the brakes and no ABS.
I did have one of the brake pipes that go to the ABS replaced about 2.5 yrs ago, I don't think thats anything to do with it, but you never know, thats why I went to check all the connectors.
And this year I had a new master cylinder fitted which came with new switch. I'll look in the manual and see if I can test that connector and will make sure it's seated, but I'm sure that the mechanic who fitted the new MC will have done that - and the ABS was faulty 6 months or more before the M/C was replaced.
The fact that it doesn't self test encourages me that it might be one of the three relays. I'll have to order them so want to make sure it's not something simple first.
