I have an 84 vette that I'm putting a 6.0 lq4 in.I pulled The motor the other day to find that the tranny case is busted up only to bolts holding it in.What I would like to know is there any difference in the 700r4 case. The tranny out of the car shifts fine so can I just get a 700r4 case and switch everything over.I know the c4 corvette trans are shorter but if I use the guts and tail section that should not be a prob correct. thanks for all and any info.

As long as the case is from an 84-86 you are correct.
Thanks again Pete K at least now I know what to look for when looking for a case.
They are date coded, so that should help.
Externally, they look the same so the date stamp is key.
There are 255 changes in the 700r4 from 84-93. That is why I said many.

I appreciate all the info you have given me Pete K now I can find a case and get back to sticking this motor in.It suck when you find things like this but it's all part of hot rodding.Just hope I don't see the guy who had the vette before me again.I had already bought a tci constant pressure valve body and finned aluminum pan for the trans or I would prob do something else anyway thanks again.
