hey guys maybe im a bit confused but are muffler eliminators for the vett the smae thing as having straight pipes run back from your cat? or is it something different? also how do people like the sound of glasspacks or cherrybombs compared to either muffler eliminators of flowmasters or borla or corsa?
Good question. I thought it was just cutting off the mufflers and welding pipe in their place but people on here talk about it like it's an actual part. Anyway I cut off my muffs and welded straight pipes in their place and then welded the stock tips back on. Sounds great, not too loud, just a low rumble and no resonance. I do, however, have the resonator so I am sure that helps.
I have listened to C4's with Corsa's, stock, Flowmaster's and Borla exhaust. I still think I came way out ahead on bang for buck. I really like the Corsa's though. Spent $70.00 to have a muffler shop build a set for me.
Click the burn baby burn video below to hear ME's.. I was banging the rev limiter in the video..

Muffler eliminators do just that, they replace your mufflers with straight pipes from the catalytic converter. A lot of people like the sound, I think it is a bit loud and the tone leaves something to be desired (IMHO). As for the differences between the Flowmasters, Borlas and Corsas, they all sound pretty good to me though I might prefer the Borlas to the others. I am running a set of the MAD Targa style mufflers which seem to have a nice, deep note though resonance is pretty bad in the area of 1400RPM's...
Yes "muffler eliminators" means just cutting your mufflers off and putting pipes in their place. I think it's kinda a stupid thing myself. ONLY Corvette owners refer to them as Muffler Eliminators, I guess it just sounds too ghetto to have straight pipes. I think it's silly IMHO.
Straight pipes=no cats, no resonators, no mufflers
I have hooker long tubes, without cats, resonators, or mufflers. Now that is true straight pipes. Muffler eliminators, are just that, pipe that goes in place of your mufflers.
