eliminating emissions on a 1985?
i want to remove as much of the emissions clutter as i can. without causing major problems.
i am eliminating the air pump, and i have a pair of LPE long tube header with the air tubes removed.
so what else can i remove?

On my 85, I broke the air diverter valve solenoid so I took it off. I took of the smog pump. I deleted the EGR valve and unplugged the EGR solenoid & temp sensor. This was all for testing purposes. When I drove it off-road, I never got a code (not even an EGR code).
86 and up people seem to be less fortunate when just unplugging stuff. But keep one thing in mind. The spark advance in the PROM is calibrated for the EGR valve being in the system and working correctly.
Better performance is rarely realized by deleting the EGR valve. The EGR is never operational under WOT, so if you are doing it for max performance, it isn't going to get you what you want. But then again, mine is sitting in a box in the garage labled "old emission parts". -Matt-
