Default 1990 Vette Door Pannel removal

Hi,
I normally work on C1's and C3's. I am working on my Father inlaw's 1990 Corvette. Is there any documentation to remove the door pannels?

lower the window
remove the handle bezel by gently prying down on the top corners approx. 1/2" from edge. Rotate the lamp downward and out.
Pry the remote control lock **** from the rod.
Remove the bezel screws and the bezel. It may be necassary to to pull the inside door handle inward as you remove the bezel.
Remove the courtesy lamp and power door lock switch connectors.
Remove the screws fron the armrest and remove the armrest.
If you are removing the right side trim panel, remove the window switch by prying it away form the trim panel and disconnecting the electrical connector. Remove the hidden trim panel screw that was covered by the switch.
Remove the trim panel screws and bolts.
If your are removing the left side panel, it will necassary to to remove the rear compartment release switch wiring by pulling the trim panel away from the bottom of the dor and reaching inside the door and disconnecting the switch.
The trim panel can be removed by pulliog the panel out at the bottom of the door and pushing it upward towards the top.
Installtion is reverse.

Haynes Manual info. Hope this helps.

Thank you.
I was working on his car at his house, looks like I am going to bring it home. I have to replace the door switch for the inside lights.

Disconnect the battery first. A Corvette electrical system's a pretty delicate thing. You can **** up a lot of expensive things quick by NOT following this rudimentary step.

OK,
To remove the bezel, you need to remove the light, then there is a screw behind the light that holds the upper portion of the bezel in place. I am not sure what is keeping the lower half of the bezel in place but it will not release and I may break it. Is there a trick to removing the bezel?

Rolling the window down will make it easier to remove and install the door panel.

Be sure to disconnect the battery so nothing shorts out.

Using a small flat bladed screwdriver, pry the top edge of the door courtesy lamp out away from the door panel, it will pop out and expose 1 hidden screw for the bezel. The other screw is right by the front edge of the door opener pull handle.

I don't recall having to worry about pulling the bezel out of the door panel. It should stay with the door panel. There is a small black plastic panel behind the door panel pull handle which is separate from the bezel. It will come off after the door panel is removed.

Pull the plastic door lock slider **** off. It snaps onto the door lock rod.

If you look down into the door arm rest there are two vertical mounted screws that need to be removed.

There is a screw on the back edge of the door panel above the hatch release switch.

There are the obvious screws along the bottom edge of the panel.

There is also 1 long screw around the middle front edge of the door panel.

If all of the screws are off, you can pull the bottom edge of the door panel away from the door then lift the panel up and the lip will unhook from the door. You have to move the panel forward to clear the door lock rod. Then unplug the electrical plugs.

First, thank you for the reply. I have the courtest light removed and all of the screws. I am stuck at the pulling the plastic door lock slider, how do I remove this? Do I continue sliding it out by force or pull it out towards me?
Thank you for the help!!!!

The plastic slider is a tight snap fit on the rod.

If you can get something to hook on to the front back edge of the slider and pull towards you, it will pop off.

The front part of the door lock rod is L shaped so if you get behind the plastic slider pull towards you and it will unsnap from the rod.

I don't know if this helps but here's a picture of the backside of the plastic slider.

The circle shows the part of the slider that snaps on to the rod.
The arrow points to the hole in the plastic slider where the L shaped part of the door lock rod end fits.

Was following this to remove the door panel from my '87... The door courtesy lamp removal process as described didn't work as it won't come out that way and there is no screw behind it anyway. To remove the lamp I'd have to pull the panel and access the lamp unit from behind.

I just removed all the screws around the door panel, then the two down beside the armrest, then the one behind the pull lever. Didn't need to remove the bezel itself.

The panel came away free after I looked inside, and clicked off the L shape door lock slide thing and disconnected the plugs.

Not too difficult, and the info was useful anyway..

Cheers from Scotland!!
