I'm replacing the water pump and the small hose that connects to the pump is a T-shaped hose: one leg goes to the heater and the other leg under the engine (haven't looked it up in the manual yet).
Following the "while I'm at it" mantra, with everything removed from the front of the engine at the moment, I thought I should replace it. I called a couple of parts places and they don't carry it. The old hose feels fine (no soft spots), so I think I could continue to use it.
Has anyone else replaced this T-shaped hose? Is it worth it?
If it is the hose going to the oil cooler, that hose is not made any more.
??? - i bought one several years ago for my 85. the new gm part was made from 3 rubber pieces, and a metal "T". the original was a 3-way molded rubber assembly. correct, the 3-way is on cars equipped with an oil cooler.
I made one from parts at NAPA for around $8. Heater hose and the tee was in a bubble pack.
Oh, it's better than that. I'm replacing that line now during a full long block rebuild, replacing every hose! The part number from GM is 10158081 and is $156 from GM dealer, you can find it through online parts for about $80!
I also have some NAPA parts and I am building my own, I will say I do like the idea of the one piece hose better, but maybe $30-40 better not $80
