Default Changing the rear input shaft seal

Does anyone know what kind of Job it is to change the rear input shaft seal. I have a 1996 CE that has a very small leak. Do you have to pull the transmission or just remove the drive line? Or should I just drive it like this? its not much of a leak, it takes it a week or so to show up on the floor of my garage, and its only a puddle about the size of a baseball. Thanks

The tranny input seal is one you have to pull the tranny out for to gain access. The tranny output seal on the tail shaft is easy you just drop the driveshaft to get at it. If the leak was minor I'd run it until it gets worse or caused you significant grief.

There is also a bearing in there that the yoke rides against/inside of. Simply replacing the seal may only be a temp fix. The back half of the output section must be removed to change the bearing if it is worn. Also pay close attention to the yoke shaft itself as the "old" seal may have cut a grove into it.

Thanks for the input, I think I will be ok. The car just has a little over 50,000 miles on it. I figure the seal has just got dried out from not getting drove that much over the last 13 years.
