Default Tall deck motor in C4?

Has anyone here put the Dart iron eagle tall deck block in a C4? If so what mods must be made if any for it to fit? My 440 just went boom last weekend and destroyed everything so I will be starting from scratch again. I'm thinking of doing a 461 cubic inch small block with a tall deck block.

Hey Tim, that really sucks to hear. Not sure how a tall deck would fit in our cars, but would be curious to hear it myself.

It sounds like the new AFR 235's will be out in the next few weeks, unless you are thinking 18 degree or 15 degree. But a tall deck would require a specific manifold for the tall deck and whatever heads you end up with. I haven't seen SBC spacers for a tall deck to use standard 23 degree manifolds on them.

Good luck with it!

If a tall deck will fit I was thinking of a 461 cubic inch small block. I am debating on the allpro 23 degree heads they flow around 350 cfm's. I want the new 235 afr's but I don't want to miss anymore races than I have to and I can get the allpro's in two weeks. My engine builder said they have spacers for the intake to fit. Depending on how much this cost I will probably get a hogan intake.

Hey Tim, do you know who makes spacers. I have never found any, and would be curious to know who makes them. Thanks.

Oh... Tony made it sound like the new 235's could be out in the next several weeks.

Dart sells intakes designed for the tall deck block, and spacers (PN 622100002) could be use with any standard manifold, they will require machining.

Thanks. I knew there are specific tall deck manifolds, but didn't know about the spacers for SBC's. Good info!

Allpro is making the spacers to match there heads to my miniram. There head uses a 1207 intake gasket.

Have your Miniram and heads flowed together because the miniram will need to be ported. There is one major problem with the Miniram that no one seems to really understand, the Plenum chamber is limited to how much air it can support. Porting the runners to flow more does not change the plemun size. There is a formula for calculating the plemun size to horsepower.

A miniram is a lot shorter than a tpi, so that should help you out a lot.

Well all the parts have been ordered for the 461 small block now. My builder was planning on flowing the heads and the miniram together and port as needed on the miniram. Does anyone make 2" or 2"1/8 headers for the C4's?
