Had to run a few errands yesterday and since it was such a beautiful day decided to take the '94 LT1 vert. Made three stops in town and when I arrived back home cut the engine off to open the shop to put the vet back up. Turned the key and nothing happened. Checked battery and cable connections. Every thing OK.After sitting for over an hour tried to start again and started right up as if nothing had happened. Any ideas?

Maybe your key is worn or the contacts inside barrel are dirty not allowing the ECM to read the resistor on the key.
Have you got a 2nd key to try when it happens next?
If it won't crank, you will have to wait 6 minutes to try your other key. Most likely you have a clutch safety sw (gear selector switch if auto) or the contacts in the ign lock aren't making reliable connection to the key pellet. Next time jump the clutch safety switch socket and try again.
It's an automatic. Tried it in neutral as well as park. After sitting for a while (1 to 2 hrs) it started. If it was the safety switch I don't think it would start after sitting for a while.
It could be, I have observed safety switches become unreliable before they quit altogether. The highest failure is the contacts in the ign lock not making good connection to the pellet. After you try jumping the gear selector sw, pull the panel above the drivers feet, find the 2 wires from above the steering column going to a 2 pin connector and unplug them. Insert key and measure the resistance across the wire from the steering column. It should measure the same as the pellet and MUST be within 4% or the VATS module will not allow a crank.
I had this very same thing, Turned out the starter brushes were worn, and the mica on the armature was swelling up with heat, keeping the now too small brushes from contacting the armature, prohibiting rotation. I was not listening to the car.
