Is anyone running this combination in CA? I'm curious about how you smogged and are you happy with the combination. With the exception of the cam, this is all CA legal.

and that cam is old technology, Comp sells Fuel Injection cams that are bigger, My shop tells me the cats will scrub whatever emissions you have, they may over worktime, but don't fret too much.
I wish someone would have told me 24# er's would not work.
I have been running them on the same combo for 14 years.
Interesting.
i was told by the guys at advanced induction with their 190 cc head job and custom cam (i forget the specs right now) that it would need 42#ers on a 383... is that too large an injector?

I cant speak for another combo, but my experience with my super ram 383 that stays below 6000 rpm has too much injector.
My buddy ran a mid 11 second 434 (superram) car with 5800 shift points had 36 pounders, and we could not lean it out enough.
I have a superram and bought inkectors from FIC for a stock to mild motor,FIC said 22- 24 is enough, because you can get a regulator and up them to full cap.
IMO many people go overboard with injector size. I think 24-30 is probably good for the 450 to if you are lucky some how 500 hp you might make.

The other cams I'm considering are the Comp Cam 260XFI or possibly the 268XFI. Keep in mind this is not being built for the track. The 260 would keep the low end torque TPIs are known for. Probably quite good for highway. The 268 moves the power band up at a slight loss on the lower end.

I bought the 24# injectors I have from Jon. He indicated they would get me to my goal of 400 Hp. I use an AFPR set at 47 psi for max flow and very good atomization. I know I'll never get the 450 to 500 I would like and still be legal in this state. But I can still have fun on the street.
About any of those will work good, the 260 is a tad on the small side for the stroker. If you can work the SR over a bit. Not totally necessary but it will help;youll make tons of torque with that setup.

I put 42# injectors on my 7K RPM 383, 450 RWHP. I don't like the idea of running the injectors to the ragged edge (in terms of flow volume), and the big ones don't cost much more (often times the same price) as the small ones. My tuner had no problem making them work.

your TPI is gone when you go SR, so cam accordingly.
auto or stick?
i have a superram, i studded the plenum box for easy nut access, the volume in the plenum will quiet bigger cam supposedly.
you can go with the 268 and still be fine mines the 290

Adjustable fuel pressure regulators are illegal in CA. I had one and failed the visual. The emissions should be fine with a good cat. You can't make any changes to the exhaust before the cats. Long tubes are illegal here.

The AFPR I got from TPiS has an E.O. number and is CA legal. I know I'm screwed on the exhaust. I installed a Corsa catback, replaced the cat with a Magnaflow and replaced the 2-1/4" front Y with 2-1/2". So the flow is as good as its going to get. To my knowledge there are no headers that are legal.

Mine is an 700R4 Automatic with 3.07 gears. If you're running a 290 and passing smog, I feel fine with the 268XFI. Your Super Ram plenum looks good. Is the casting quality good enough to polish out?

Edlebrock made shortys with a carb #. Summit had them but I can't find them now.
The smog tech told me that all adjustable fuel regulators were illegal in CA. I had to change it and put an OEM back on to pass. You have to pull the superam plenum off to change the fuel regulator.
That was a year ago.
