Default Double Check my rebuild

I’m going to rebuild my '93 LT1. My plan is to:
- Disassemble it
- Take it to a machine shop ( .030 over)
- Replace:
- Cam Shaft
- Bolts (ABS)
- Lifters
- Valves
- Push Rods
- Pistons
- Gaskets
- All bearings and seals
- All sensors
- Oil Pump
- Fuel Injectors (Baush Series III)
- Optispark (MSD)
- Water Pump
- All hoses

Did I forget anything? Any better ideas?

My plan is to put it back together by myself. I think re-assembling it will be easier than getting it back in the car. Getting it out was a PITA.

Roller rockers, plug wires, and install fan switch while you're in there. Balancing ?

If you want OEM .030 over pistons, I have a spare set of brand new ones, lemme know. agent@inventorweb.com

Depends what your goals are.

My coolant cross-over tube was in bad shape. GM P/N 1255-6260 it comes with new seals and bolts.

Exactly. Goals and limitations will dictate what needs done. If you want high hp, then a forged 383 rotating assembly, high duration cam, and a nice set of heads would be a good way to go. If money is no object, a 396 LT1 can make some pretty good numbers... Or if you're like me, a stock bottom end with a decent cam and reworked stock heads will have to be good enough for now.

If you're like most of us---it will depend on the budget. Not many of us have thousands to blow on the engine we want. Don't try to go too overboard. You're just asking for reliability issues later. My brother and I built a really hot motor not too long ago and after the third blown head gasket we decided to take it down a few notches. Now everything has been good for several months.

Good luck on the build.

Check with the machine shop. It wasn't too much more $$ for them to do the re-assembly on my LT4, and since they put it together, they gave me a warranty on it. Do you already have all the tools you need to confirm bearing clearances and such? I thought seriously about doing the re-assembly, it it was an awfully big gamble for me to take if I messed something up.

Default Thanks

Thank you everybody for your responses.

I am keeping it stock. The only exceptions will be where there is a better replacement part for the stock item. Such as the Optispark.

I'll going to try to do this myself. It's an adventure.
