Default Coolent Resivore Cap

Should there be some sort of rubber or any type of seal on the inside of the cap? Mine is all plastic. I assume this is normal? Its a 92. thanks

NOPE coupeguy is right I just went and checked and sure enough there is one, and when you look at the cap you can see why it is there.

there is supposed to be a cork gasket. Otherwise, the coolant will splash up to the neck and the antifreeze wll wick out and leave a colored stain on the top of the reservoir. i went to a wrecking yard and went through about 16 reservoirs till I found a cap with a gasket.

I went and checked again, and I don't have one. I've never had any issues with coolant splashing over the neck.

Can't you still find them in the Motormite Help! section at your local auto parts store?

I doubt that would make much difference in operating temperatures.
