what kind of tire is that?

I have two BFGoodrich 275-40-17 tires that are in about that shape in the attic. I've been saving them to use in the burnout contest, but if you need one really bad and you're down this way I'll swap you for the plugged tire.... I'm just gonna fry the crap out of these anyway! :D

I've had my share of bad luck with screws, nails, bolts, etc. I've always repaired them with plugs...never had one fail! :) Obviously though, you don't want to push your luck with 100 mph + runs or pushing it hard through the turns on plugged/patched worn tires...that would be asking for trouble.

Wow, sorry to hear of the bad luck youve been having.
I also agree with David F, always patch the tire from the inside. It usually makes no difference what the hole size is,unless its too big to fix. They can run a spike through it or even a drill and still patch the hole.
The plugs should be fine though, just take it easy...I had a tire with 5 nails in it, damn sob's who installed the central heating and air system in the house dropped a pile of nails outside the driveway and I park my cars on the side there at times, and never seen it in the grass.

You may get a slow leak...keep eye on air pressure every few days.
:)

The tires on right now are Pirelli P7000's. Fronts are 275/40ZR17, rears are 315/35ZR17

Well Glock maybe it's just people your age? I had about the same run of luck at your age with my car, and it's just now starting to die down. Ex: my tranny alone. Maybe this will make you feel better. I've been able to play the VA lotto for 6 years now. In that time I have only ever won once. That winning ticket got thrown away. So hang in there man. Remember there is no where to go but up once your at the bottom.

You really need to come up here and meet Brent. I think he f*cked somebody he wasn't supposed to in a previous life or something. As for the tires I think you'll be alright. I picked up a nail in one of my rear tires when I still had the GSC's, the tire store charged me $25 to fix it, but they dismounted it and plugged it using some kind of fancy something. They also assured me it was safe to drive on. I drove on that thing just like it was alright, burnouts included and never had a problem. With yours on the front I really think you'll be fine, no burnouts to rip the plug out :)

I was washing my car the other day and noticed a screw in one of my new Kumho tires!!!!!! I couldn't pull it out, so I got a screwdriver and unscrewed it. Turns out it wasn't very long and happened to hit right in the one of the beefy tread parts and didn't penetrate anything but rubber. I was starting to get pissed, but it worked out. Your luck has to change some day man.

Jeez louise! Now this? Where are these karmic repurcussions coming from? Hope this turns around! I hope you can at least laugh about some of these things by now.
Reminds me of Tom Hanks in that movie "Money Pit" when the tub full of water crashes down. Substitute you for Tom, Vette for house.

I picked up a set of Nitto 555 extremes for $701.36 off of the web. I got 255/45zr17 on front and 285/40zr17 on back. I am not sure they make 315 in the 555 extreme but I know they make them in 555R the drag radial. Only prob is that they are only good for like 10000 miles or so. Friend has tehm on his firechicken hook up really good though.

You would think with our luck together some good luck would happen but since neither one of our luck is worth a poopie together I would hate to see alone!!! :p:
