Default 1989 Dim Instrument Lights ???

(Just bought my first Vette! 89 C4 was a daily driver and has some miles but wanted something easy on the pocket and with some room to tweak and upgrade)
Anyhow, first problem is with the Dash Instument Lights:
#1 Main info center (mph/temp/oil/tach etc) is very dim and the dimmer switch does not change this. When I rotate the dimmer switch the radio dims and brightens as it should.
#2 When headlights are OFF and Ignition is ON or running the turn signal indicators glow as well as the high beam indicator. As soon as I turn on the headlights or parking lights these all go off and function normally

This is a typical indication of either a bad ground or a broken connection in the dash panel. The dash has a ground on the back of the drivers side head that could be loose but is more probably a circuit in the dash is broken. The dash being dim is probably burned out bulbs.Below are a couple of repair shops that can fix you up for a resonable price.Call them and tell them what the dash cluster is doing..WW

on the broken connections; and would add that if you can use a soldering iron there is a great how-to DIY on repairing your own cluster. I have suggested it be put up on sticky; I will look around and see if I can find the link.

found the link, (Mr. Moderator, how about putting this up on a sticky, it's the greatest DIY on instrument clusters that I've seen?)
