Guys, I am in the process of removing w.p to install a new one. I have a Haynes manual and I believe it falls a little short. I have the ac compressor bracket unbolted and trying to remove the bracket off the studs but the belt tensioner is on this bracket and it hits the cross member frame before the bracket clears the studs. Am I supposed to remove the belt tensioner and if I do will it explode in my hand since it has that spring in it?? What to do? Need some help.
Fear not!! The tensioner spring is self-contained and when you remove the bolt in the middle of the tensioner, the only thing that happens is the tensioner comes off...the biggest b!t$h is getting the a/c, alt, smog, etc. out of your way...then 4 bolts and its off! Loosen(but don't remove)the bolts for the WP pulley before you take the belt off....hope this helps!
There is also a bolt that need to be removed in the center of the AC/tensioner bracket...it is kind of hard to see but is there none the less. If you have an impact gun you don't worry about the H20 pulley hardware until you get the pump off.
Yes I want to toss the frisbee but the stud bolts are not threaded all the way and I will not be able to tighten pulley. Do you use shims?
Can't finish until lower radiator hose comes in Tuesday. Had to order one today. Funny only napa and O'riely had the one I need. Ghetto zone and Advanced did not show the correct one on their computers.
