hard brake pedal
i think i know what the problem is just need someone to confirm before i spend the money. i have a hard brake pedal and when i push on brake with engine running i can hear a loud vacume sound under dash. brake booster? or could it be something else i am not thinking of thanks

If the vacuum hose to the booster check valve is good, then I'm sure the booster is bad. Also if you only get the woosh when you step on the pedal, then is sure sounds like booster as you already know.

Correct. Hook up a mighty vac to the booster inlet and pump away. See if it will hold vacuum.
