In addition to removing the trim piece below the steering column on the drivers side and lowering the steering column, what other hardware and items have to be removed to be able to see the tilt mechanism's pivot pins?
I'd like to check for elongated holes in the pot metal casting that the pins ride in since I have some down and to the left movement in the steering wheel when the tilt mechanism is at the top most position.
I understand the kits are no longer available. At this point, I just want to take a look-see without disassembling the steering column. I would assume that you can take just a few things off so you can see the pivot pins and the casting they ride in. If so, I can see how bad the damage is and then decide what to do about it. At least two forum members have spoken in past threads about using JB Weld to repair the damage which, since I don't think I can get the kit anymore, may be my only option.
Thanks for the P/N for the kit. I'll check with GM just to make certain that the info I got was correct.
