GM and all the carmakers seem to guard such information closely. Given that some of the C4 cars are over 20 years old, I'm wondering if the ECM circuit board schematics might have emerged somewhere.
I am looking for a schematic covering the ECM used in the 85-89 cars. At least I think this is the range of years that are the same.
You are not kidding when you say guarded. Me and others have been looking for years and found nothing of value. Even some of the boxes that I have tried to repair the ICs are proprietary chips meaning there are no regular commercial part number on them in which to use to order or as a cross reference number part. If you knew what the part was then you could troubleshoot the circuit input and outputs. But introducing some unknowns makes it real tough to get anything accomplished.
I even spoke with a chip manufacture once who said they could not tell me and said he did not even know if he had the information still. The fact is they want to sole source control the part repair and know if us electronic wizards get in there we will be eating at their profit.
I don’t think at this point if PCM & ECM information was released now it could ever hurt GM at this point. Along with a pile of other information in other boxes.
