pm me your email and i will attached the files since we are the same year make and model, you will still need a stock bin file which i don't have.
Tuner Pro RT has pretty good instructions. Open Tuner Pro RT, in the toolbar at the top click on "HELP". Then "Help Topics", go to "ALDL Acquisition" and start reading. I printed off the entire help section and put it in a 3 ring binder so I can study it any time. Reading the instructions along with the info from slickfx3 you should be up to speed in no time. It seems like some people had trouble using a serial/usb adaptor - my laptop has a serial port so I use it. I updated my 85 to a 165 ecm with a flash eprom and run a modified 89 program. It can be frustrating but it WILL be worth it!
Thanks i will do that, as far as the flash eprom does that mean changes to the software without removing the prom? if so,what has do be done to do that?

you have a memcal, you can erase it with the uv eraser or get an adaptor and a new chip moates and get a burner to program the new bin or get someone to burn it for you.
Thanks i will check out moates more in depth, my question was alittle premature but i am sure that will be next once i get everything sorted out........

A flash eprom means NO chip burning. You pull the ecm out from under the dash (one time), remove the stock Memcal and plug the eprom in it's place. You then plug the stock Memcal into the eprom, make a notch in the ecm cover and mount the cable under the dash. You can then make changes to your program on your laptop, plug the laptop into the flash eprom (using the parallel/printer port), flash the eprom and go test out the changes. Like I said, no hassles of removing, erasing, and burning chips. A flash eprom make it so easy it should be illegal! I think Moates sells flash eproms, but I used a PROMinator from Speedtronics.net. I also have a rotary switch that can store up to 8 programs at the same time.
