My 93 has the Z07 package, Ive been told that the tire should be 275's front an back. It looks like the previous owner put 255 front and 285 rear. The front tires do seem to be pull out to the rim. I tried to put the car up on the rhino ramps but there is no way it will clear. Will 275's up front make a big difference? I don't understand why anyone would put the wrong sizes on my car in the first place. Does a Z07 sit lower than a standard coupe? Thanks guys.
I have a 95 ZO7 & my wheels & tires are;
Wheels-17x9.5 all around. Tires are-P275/40ZR17, all around.
The dimensions you quote are for non-ZO7's.
From what I gather replacement wheels & tires must be equivalent to original equipment or it can cause problems with
hub bearing life, brake cooling, vehicle ground clearance, etc.
Whoever replaced the rollers, probably, was not aware of the restriction.
:cheers:
Having 255's on the front won't hurt the car in anyway, but having a 255 on a 9.5 rim is putting the tire on the widest rim it should go on... in hard cornering it could unseat itself. 255/45/17's came factory on the non-Z07 cars and they are basically the same diameter.
To get the car up on the rhino ramps, you might need to drive up on a 2x6 or 2x8 and then up the ramps.
Thanks guys, The tires on the car a pretty new. I don't want to ruin the bearings or anything. I drove the car up on some 2x10's and then jacked it up by the front crossmember. I then lowered it onto the rino ramps. Seems to work well. With the kind of miles I put on the car, I will only change the oil maybe 4 times a year. I have it up on ramps now waiting on a new starter. i have the negative battery cable off. There shouldn't be a problem with having the battery disconnect for about a week should there? Thanks again.
