Default 89 hot wire
I am connecting an hour meter on an 89. Need a wire that is hot only when engine is running. Any suggestions?

On firewall, beside brake booster.

You can grab the same wire at fuse panel's fuel pump fuse. Not sure how accessible it is, though.
