Just a few thoughts to throw out here:

-Synthetic Fluid in the automatic transmission?

-Removing the torque convertor cover plate to allow better airflow?

-A cooler with a seperate fan you can switch on and off as needed.

-and lastly, adding any type cooler to a system that did not have one before has to be an improvement, no matter what.

OK, results: Same type autocrossing with 2 drivers in the car (twice the runs, little or no cool down time, HOT summertime weather, aggressive driving style)

NOW: max. temp. at 215, quick cool to 200-205

BEFORE COOLER: max. temp. 240, quick cool to 220

So......looks to be about a 15-25 deg. F temp drop in trans fluid across the board. I'll call it succesfull!

I'm still considering synthetic automatic transmission fluid, any thoughts on that????
