Default Measure push rods install heads.

After 6 months of having my car in a Denver Corvette specialty shop I have it back to replace the heads myself.
Installing AFR Heads, any special tricks or bolt lubricants/thread sealer I should use?
What is easiest way to measure pushrod length requirement as replaced cam and using 1.6rr?
Tricks to adjusting RRs to right torque? I read if you use a .015 gap the 3/4 turn that was more precise than finger presure drag on Pushrod.
Thanks
Ken

Best to get an adjustable push rod length checker. Sell for $15 or so. Simple to use. Set it for stock length, install on one valve with your new rocker, rotate engine by hand and watch the valve stem.

I used roller tip rockers and set the length so that the roller tip rolled across the valve stem tip for the full travel. You don't want the roller to go off the stem tip at any time during the valve lift.

Suggest adjusting the push rod length to lengths available off the shelf instead of going full custom...much quicker to get and far less expensive.

good luck

What engine do you have? Dealing with the rockers depends on what engine you have. Some have adjustable valve trains, others don't.

You'll need to apply thread sealer on the threads of the head bolts to prevent coolant from migrating up the head bolts.

If you're using ARP head bolts, you need to use their specific lube and sealant and follow their torque recommendation. You should always follow the torque sequence too; slow and even pulls on the torque wrench when torquing the head bolts in multiple steps. I use three steps.

As far as determining the correct push rod length, as already advised, "beg, borrow of steal" an adjustable pushrod length checker. The procedure for using it may be posted in our Tech Tips section or, if not, go to Shbox.com to read up on using it.

Hope this helps.

Jake
