Steering creaking and clicking
Hello.
So I have this issue with my fathers vette. When ever turning the wheel left or right (doesn't matter) there is creaking and clicking noises that come from the car. It doesnt sound like warn bushings. I hear it coming from the rack area (I THINK).
Is there any common issues that might be this. The car is a 96 LT1 Auto.
Only has 54k on it.
The car still handles great and steering is firm.

Our 85 did that-made a CREAK-POP-POP-POP noise that was gawdawful. Thought it was the pump at first, but then noted that it did it even with the engine stopped. Replaced the steering rack, and the problem went away.
Changing the rack isn't a terribly tough job, just time consuming. Take it to a good alignment shop after you're done.
