Posting for a friend that just called me. He's trying to change the clutch master cylinder on his ZF6 car. He said the new master cylinder didn't have the push rod in it so he thinks he has to swap the one from the failed master. Does he just pull out the rod from the old one and push it into the new one? I'm not looking at it so I don't know. He's not super mechanical so he's not sure. I'm pretty sure I helped my son put his master cylinder in his '87 when we converted it from a 4+3 to a ZF and I think the master cylinder already had the push rod in it. I did search around but couldn't find info on how to transfer the rod from one master cylinder to the new one. Thanks.

  1. remove the rubber boot
  2. remove the circlip holding the rod on
  3. remove the rod
  4. install is revers of removal

circlip pliers are not expensive.
