I had to use the hood "tool," although it didn't work well. I've heard that by removing the driver's side wheel and removing the plastic wheel skirt you can get enough room to pop the clasp. Hope this helps.
With the driver door open, stand out side the car and push down on the driverside corner of the hood with your right hand where the latch is. It will releas pressure on the latch. Then pull the release for the hood. This is what I do to open my hood.
ohhhhh, I have BEEN there! The tool works although you have to finess it and it's good to have another C4 there so you can compare how far to insert it and how to do it. We went over to someone's house who had one and practiced on his and it still took about an hour on my car (it took about 1 mintute on his  ) My husband say "Good luck  "
BTW ours was because the cable was stretched out and it was about $15 to replace. We put the new one on and it wasn't tightened. Then we closed the hood to test it and the passenger's side stuck. We found the tool didn't work there at all and we took the wheel well apart and opened that way :mad
