I just bought a 1989 Corvette automatic and the turn signals all light up and flash with the emergency flasher but won't flash either direction with the turn signal switch they just stay on solid. So, I assume that silver round turn signal flasher thingy is dead but I can't find that blasted thing. Where is it at on these Vettes.
Might have to take the seat out for that one. I was in there putting a computer in this thing to drive it home and so when I went to put the computer back in, I looked in there and didn't see it. It must be way up in there.
Might also be burned out light bulbs. The flasher works on lamp current, low current, slow or no flashing, high current, faster flashing rate. Put the turn sig on left and look at the front and rear lights and do the same for right turn.

yes, they work perfectly. just the actual left and right doesn't blink and I know that GM's use a separate flasher for the emergency than they do for the left right flash.
ok, I decided to tackle this thing today and when I turned the turn signal on I got the left to blink a little and I know its in the passenger side dash just like hooked on vettes said but I can't find the thing anywhere. I can hear so I know its there but I can't feel it or see it. I sounds like its close to the center section towards the front but I can't see for all the crap stuffed in this little hole and I am too freaking old and fat to stay pretzeled under this dash for too long and that flasher decided to quite again so that makes it a little harder to find. Can you get the lower front carpeted section of this dash off to where I might be able to get to this thing or any more help. Is it a round silver 2 plug flasher like in every other GM or did GM do something special with the Vette.

HELP.
if it could be the switch/stalk in the column?
It is a bear working under that dash, helps if you take 10 minutes and unbolt the seat gives you a lot more room...
I found that blasted flasher it was in the front edge of that dash near the center section and was the standard silver round flasher and I replaced it and it flashes perfectly now.
Now, I seem to be having an issue with the digital HVAC controls but I will put that in a new thread to see if its a common issue and what the common solution is for it.
But thanks for the help on this issue. Likely many more to go.
