Try the search function there are a few here who have done it, just cant remmeber their names. If you can use a better heads, the LS1s arent all that great unless you choose to keep it basically stock.

I looked into this before I decided to get my 421 built. I would reasearch this before you went thru with it. There is alot to be done, and the cost will add up quickly. Plus a well built SBC 1 will keep up to a LSx. My 421 will make in the area of 550/550 and it's on the mild side. I could of easily went with a bigger cam, and bigger heads and approached and passed the 600hp mark.

I guess it all depends what your looking for, but it is easier to make HP with the LSx foundation.

The best way to get an LSx is to sell your car, and buy a C5 or C6. I wanted to stay old school, hence why I built a motor with 23 degree heads. Plus there is some fabrication work involved in going the LSx route. I didnt want to chop up the car if I didnt have too.

My next toy will be based on a LSx design, but that won't be for a bit.

I'm not sure what exactly you are trying to say here... However, and LS1 is clearly superior to a traditional SBC. To deny that is like saying the flat head ford is superior to the SBC... Time marches on, technology wins...

That said this is not a super simple swap. I am doing one, in fact mine was a once running basket case. I'm building a street legal race car, so some of the hassles won't effect me. I'm ditching the HVAC and stock dash entirely. If you want a street car w A/C and stock dash it gets harder and more expensive.

Plus with C5s getting cheap, I'd have to agree that for a street car just buying a C5 is the way to go.

THe LS1 (not LS6 etc) heads only flow about 20-30 cfm more than a L98 head) is what I meant. As a whole, yeah LS are worlds better.
