I have a 93 C4 and when it sits over night or for a couple of days it takes a long time to start ( 45-60 sometimes more) Runs fine once it starts. Fuel pressure around 42 then drops to around 30 after an hour. Replaced fuel injectors, opti spark and fuel filter a few weeks ago.
Fuel Pump????
Took off the fule rail and checked for leaking injector and to no avail. every one was good ( no leaks ) put back together and no NO fuel pressure above 10-20 PSI
i went throught this problem in detail with my 85 and the help of the forum a couple of years ago. i could tell the entire part by part replacement story but i will spare the details.
As for the loss of pressure, everyone said fuel pump with built in check valve, or the fp regulator - sorry charlie, it was the fuel pulsator - which was the easiest and cheapest fix I could have done. the pulsator ruptured and was bleeding back to the tank. took me about 1 hour to fix with a small piece of fuel hose and pressure was holding fine.
next, my pink top injectors solved my smoke at start up problem. starts like it should now... still cranks a little longer than Id like on really hot days. not sure it applies to your car .hope that helps -
