I need to choose between a CORSA LT1 Power Pulse Exhaust System (Ecklers #38591) $900, or a Borla Performance Mufflers (Ecklers #30942) $520.
The Corsa is the entire exhaust system and the Borla are just the y-pipes\mufflers. I don’t know which one I should get. My vette mechanic, who’s opinion I greatly respect, says to go with the Borla. It’s a better buy for the money. The Borla will give me about 13 HP increase and sound good for $520. Where as the Corsa cost $400 more and I will not get that much extra HP out of it. And the sound would be about the same.
I do go for long trips, about six hours drive, every other month or so. Therefore I don’t want something that will make me lose my hearing. I am also not going to mod my car that much after this. I am just going to add the HyperTech Power Chip and thermostat (160 degrees). The only mod I have now is the K&N filter. I may go for the open-lid but I am not sure yet. Any ideas??

First of all, go with the Corsa!!! My favorite is the Power Effects system ( which I have) but Corsa comes in second. As mentioned above, the Corsa system has the least amount of resonance of any exhaust. It's just like stock, until you punch the accelerator. You WILL get some resonance with the Borla.
Second, buy the Corsa from Chris at speeddemon motorsports [www.speeddemonmotorsports.com]. He will definately beat Eckler's price!
Finally, be carefull of this statement:

I think we have all said that before!

Got my Corsa's from LAPD (supporting vendor of the forum) for 799 shipped this past christmas. You should be able to get it for 825.....Dont pay 900!!!!
NOt sure...but I like my exhaust to have TWO FUNCTIONAL tips......dont corsa's still have the dummy tip??? For the price....I'd like TWO!!!!
Both tips are functional, one just flows more than the other...put your hand up to the "clean" tip on a Corsa system, you'll feel exhaust coming from it. The Corsas may not be the loudest system on the market by a long shot...but they are built extremely well, sound great (they get louder with age), look just as great (in my opinion), and have NO resonence (sp)...I've taken mine on multiple cross country trips and enjoyed every minute of it! Go with the Corsas you won't regret it.
The Borlas are to loud. I went with the Flowmasters and left the resonator on. Sounds great, espeicaly when you put your foot in it, even with 125,000 miles. Good luck :seeya
