Default what is this relay?

There is a relay directly behind the battery on my 85. I seem to recall that this is the aux fan relay, but I'm getting older and more forgetful...anyone know what it controls?? TIA!

On my 87 thats the fuel pump relay. Unplug it and look at the wires. The connector is probably toast by now. When I looked at mine a couple years ago I could not believe it had not been on fire yet.

On my 86 there are two relays behind the battery that are the mass burn off and power relays.

The fuel pump relay is towards the center of the car and close to the wiper pump.

I've always read to change those when replacing your mass air flow sensor

Hope that helps.

The 85 has a burn off module inside the car under the dash; which leads me to believe that either a) that is just the maf power relay; or 2) it's entirely something else...
The problem I have is that the car has been in storage for the past 5 years, and rodents chewed through the blue wire; I was just trying to figure out what the relay is controlling!

This is true. I forgot about the MAF relays on 86 and up.
