I have a leaking pump on my 89 vert. Has anyone successfully rebuilt theirs? This is a low mileage car (16k) that is 100% stock and original and want to keep it that way....down to smallest details.
I just replaced mine with a "rebuilt" unit from Cardone ($70) by way of Advance Auto. My "rebuilt" unit came from another vette but had no viable distinquisable makings on it which seperate it from the origional piece.
I'm not sure if they just sell "rebuild kits" but if you want you can pick up a new "rebuilt" unit and slip the new parts out and into your old pump cases.....make sure you install a new "O" ring on the pressure hose fitting...that puppy will leak like a sive without it. Rent or buy a power steering pump pulley tool if you don't already own one.
