My L83 stays around 201 - 204 Degrees. Is this high or normal? Also my oil pressure reads "80" at startup and NEVER changes. Shouldn't it go up and down with engine speed?
Re: What temperature should I be running at? (Red84CrossFire)
On the water temp, mine will stay in the 200 to 220 range and if the air is on or not, and my oil pressure varies when at idle or on the highway or ?? so you could have a defective sending unit, and is a lot easier to start there than the digital dash.
Re: What temperature should I be running at? (Red84CrossFire)
Mine also ran close to 220 and everyone said it was normal. Ive seen even later models that hit 220+. But after some work i got my 84 to run at a consistent 189 and get up to 201 sitting in summer traffic with a/c on. I di the following to get it:
1. replaced the air dam under the car
2. cleaned the rad and condenser fins
3. flusf & fill
4. installed an after market fan switch/thermostat thru the rad
5. poured in a little water wetter
6. made sure car was in proper tune.
good luck hope it helps
