I think I have a intake leak on my 86vette it surges at idle and is hard to start when hot then is restarted say 10 mind later I used carb cleaner and sprayed the intake by the gaskets between the heads and intake and the car almost died it has the accel intake with no egr and trick flow heads how tuff of a job is this? I've done a lot on a carb car but never fuel injected one shoul I put the egr back on I don't have to pass emisions but I want it to run good ?
Is it just an Accel base or a Superram? The either way the intake is in several pieces which takes more time than a carb intake, but its still unbolting and bolting.
Not to sound dumb it looks straight forward do i just pull the throttle body hoses etc and unbolt the run ners and replace the gaskets. I have no egr its blocked off should i put one on why i have it off? And where does the egr vacuum hose connect to?

I've been troubleshooting a rough idle/cruising issue and was thinking about eliminating my EGR, but worry about the increased heat it may cause. During my probing I've found that on my '89 the EGR is controlled by a solenoid under the front of the plenum that gets a vacuum signal from a main vacuum line connected underneath the driver side of the throttle body near the plenum. Here's a photo of mine. Not sure if '86 is the same. Good luck with your project.
1) Electrical connection to EGR solenoid from ECM
2) Main manifold vacuum line from throttle body splits and goes into EGR solenoid. (This is not the stock vaccum line. I had to rig this one after I broke the brittle stock tubing.)
3) Vacuum line from solenoid to EGR valve
4) Main vaccum line connection at bottom rear driver side of throttle body
