Not yet Doc. My FAST box has seen more miles on it, then I have driven my car in the last few years being shipped back and forth. I am hoping this time they get it right, and the car will start.

In the meantime I bought this. I think the 421 will like the D44 3.45's instead of the D44 3.07's when the ZF6 goes in.

3.45? Why not 3.93 or 4.11? Let the big dog eat!

Theres no way to tune this thing with a stock ecm? Sure the aftermarket stuff gives better tuning capabilities but in the meantime waiting, with all the hassles your car is just collecting dust.

Jim did everything under the sun to use the stock ecm. He is a very smart cookie as you know. The stock ecm would be good for wot, but that's the least of my worries.

Dust is ok. I have a 2 year old, and a 31 day old now. I am sure they dont mind. It will get done Ron. The main thing for me is the motor is built, and in the car. Most dont get that far because its alot of money.

I was on the dyno this Friday, and there was 2 C6 Z06's there. Both had cams and bigger intakes. One had shaved his heads 30 thouands, the other had a Black Mambo cam. Both cranked 555 RWHP and are daily drivers. I have a 406 gen 1, 700R trans, 195 AFR heads, mini-ram, pretty good cam, gen7 ignition, headers, MSD, and about everything else you can throw on. Made 400 at the rear wheels...old school vs new school. That LS7 motor makes lots of hp and without to much effort, a stock one makes 450 RWHP....

I am positive the stock ECM can control your engine with a custom tune. I have tuned many combinations that are more radical then yours with the stock ECM. You may want to consider that as an option, so you can at least drive the car while you wait for the fast XFI.

My stock harness is butchered up, and I am switching over to MAP. I am just going by what guys who have been threw it before.

I dont doubt your statement Brian.

Hi Rick

I know you don't know me, but I have seen some of the engine threads on your 421. I might be able to help you out on the fast bank to bank system, a bin file to get you up and running, possibly. I run the same system on my 88z52 and have it running not to badly. I think my engine and set up is close enought to yours it would start and run so you could start the real work. I am out of the contry { Bulgaria }right now to have the wife treated for her MS. But will be back in Pickering in 12 days. I might be able to give you some tips to help after getting it started as well, as the instructions with the program are not up to much. I run mine in closed loop for the most part with 2 broad band O2s
just to keep track of the fast system. You can have a look at my engine
in my profile and see what you think and let me know.
Take Care
Brian

I tried to convince a friend of mine of the same thing. That he could run the stock re-programmed ECM to just get the freshly built 434 I did for him up and running. New Bow Tie block, new forged crank, new Carrillo rods, custom JE pistons, max ported 15* Brodix heads, max ported Mini-Ram flowing just over 400 CFM, custom solid roller, Jesel shaft system, on and on and on.

That was around ten years ago and the car (86 Vette) still can't be driven. Unbelievable FAST problems.

Too many cooks in the kitchen. Someone convinced him that he JUST HAD TO HAVE an aftermarket system. Oh, well!

Maybe not Jake. I have a pretty large customer base that leads themselves to the magic water and takes a drink.
Some are convinced that if it aftermarket, and expensive, it is better, regardless of what it is.

On a similar note, I wish someone would explain the difference (between a fast type system, and oem) to me, because I don't really understand.
What is the real difference between these systems?

If they are all capable of manipulating the air fuel ratio at a given rpm/load range, as well as allow timing changes in the same areas, what are the advantages to ripping out a factory system, and re-wiring a car for aftermarket?
Everyone I know that has done it, has regretted it (on a street driven car anyway).

Inquiring minds (mine) would love to know.

Ok thanks alot! I would like to chat when you get home. FYI. I have a tune that is somewhat close. It's getting the car started with the FAST that's the issue. Ill explain when we talk.
