Default Help! Wheel Speed Sensor Wire Broken

I noticed electrical tape on the LH front wheel speed sensor wires and unwrapped them to see what lurked within. One broke at the silver connector and then the other, so now I don't know which is which. There are two yellow wires coming through the firewall somewhere and after the connectors there is one brown and one black. Does it matter which one is which? If so, how do I find out which yellow goes to brown and which to black?

Man oh man. I wanted to go for a drive tonight, but I guess it will lock up the left front tire if I have to get on the brakes hard.

Here's a diagram. Doesn't specify which is which. (lower left)

It doesn't matter for the speed sensor wires....mix'em up if you want it will still work....just don't make the wires any shorter.

Hey, thanks engle1147! I'm going to try to carefully strip the coating off and solder them to the connectors that are still on the pigtail going to the wheel. They are really fragile.

If you have some "butt" end connectors you can pull the aluminum barrel out of the plastic (heat the plastic with a lighter then push the barrel out with a very small screwdriver) and crimp it onto the existing wires then just "sweat" the barrel to the wires with solder......of course put the shrink tubing on the wires before you put them together.

I thought about that, but to use connector I'd have to cut the existing silver connections of the ends of the seonsor pigtail and the wires would end up being shorter by about an inch. Would that make enough difference? I mean are they that precise with voltage? The wires are probably a few feet long overall from the wheel to the ECM.

Nice porting job on your runners and plenum, engle1147. How much gain did you see?

It's not a matter of voltage. It is a matter of keeping them from rubbing when you turn and off the wheel/tire at all times. If you can pull up some slack from the harness side to makeup the inch then you're golden. (or if it's still long enough to stay clear of everything.)

BTW if a speed sensor is disconnected you can still drive the car ok but won't have ASR or ABS.
